On 17th October , a meeting was held where it was resolved to request the Lieutenant Governor of the Colony to grant land for the erection of a Mechanics' Institutes building. A committee was formed at the meeting and Richard Osburne chaired the first meeting of this committee. This meeting was held at 16 Parliament Street, London. Meetings of the Joint Committee, ‘The Midland and London and South Western Railway Companies’ Somerset and Dorset Railway, were recorded from the Sept 30 th at an unspecified location. The next meeting on Nov 17 th was held at St Pancras Station. Meetings were held.

The meeting on October 9th resolved that a further distribution of bread and mutton would be held on the following Thursday, but as the danger was now receding, it was decided that in the house to house visitation at which tickets were distributed, pains were to be taken by the visitors to omit those not in urgent need and also where it may be. A committee was also appointed to draft articles of association and procure a charter of incorporation. A resolution was passed to expend $12, in the erection of suitable brick buildings, and to commence operations as soon as practicable, and that a meeting be held December 1st to elect permanent officers of the institution. Meeting held March 31 st, , the chairman, Brother Wright, told of the offense of Brother Calvin Town and read his letter asking to have his name dropped from the church book and to resign his office of trustee. It was resolved that the case of Brother Town be left over till next quarterly meeting.
